LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE TEACHER TO COVER LEAVE
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of authorized administrators shall:
- Teach courses in general science utilizing course of study adopted by the Westfield School Department, and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develop lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids.
- Provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
- Evaluate each pupil's progress in general science knowledge and skills.
- Identify pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils with attitude, and learning problems.
- Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.
- Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
- Work cooperatively with all aspects of the school administrative team/faculty and citizens to insure the highest quality of educational programs.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education.
- Participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities.
- Communicate with parents and school counselors to discuss pupil progress.
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the Building Principal or the Superintendent of Schools.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
This is a temporary position with no benefits.
This position contingent upon funding.

<b>QUALIFICATIONS:</b>
<ul><li>Certified or certifiable as a Science teacher by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education preferred.</ul> Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required |
