Extended School Year Special Education Summer Program - Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Program Dates: July 10 - August 10, 2023
Hours: 7:45 AM - 12:15 PM (may extend to 1:15)
Monday - Thursday (no programming on Fridays)

Job Description:

The certified nursing assistant (CNA) will primarily work 1:1 with an assigned student. The main role is to provide basic ADL care services to support a student(s) throughout their school day in accordance with a student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). The CNA may also assist other students in the classroom as well. The CNA will assist students in activities of daily living as well as support them in class activities in the school setting.

Responsibilities and Duties:

•Primarily work 1:1 with an assigned student as support in the school setting, but may assist other students as needed
•Assist the student with all activities of daily living required in the school setting
•Work collaboratively with the school nurse to support the student’s health care needs
•Follow assigned student’s health care plan
•Assist student with transfers from wheelchair to changing table or toilet
•Support student with toileting needs
•Assist school nurse with tube feedings (if necessary)
•Follow specific student feeding plan
•Support the student in class lessons/activities
•Work collaboratively and follow directions from the student’s teachers, therapists and related service providers
•Carryover taught skills from OT, PT, and speech-language throughout the student’s school day

Qualifications and Skills:

•CNA license
•CPR & First Aid certified
•Experience working with children preferred
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Strong observation skills
•Ability to follow schedule, plans and protocol
•Time management and organizational skills
•Empathy and compassion

Position Type: Full-time
Positions Available: 1
Salary: $20.65 to $23.90 Per Hour

Job Requirements
MA CNA license and CPR and First Aid Certification is required.

  • High School/Trade School degree preferred
