Job Description
Westfield Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the position of tutor:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provide private instruction to individual or small groups of students to improve academic performance or prepare for academic tests.
  2. Travel to students’ homes, libraries or schools to conduct tutoring sessions.
  3. Schedule tutoring appointments with students and/or their parents.
  4. Organize tutoring environment to promote productivity and learning.
  5. Monitor student performance or assist students in academic environments, such as classrooms, laboratories or computer centers.
  6. Review class material with students by discussing text, working solutions to problems, or reviewing worksheets or other assignments.
  7. Assess students’ progress throughout tutoring sessions.
  8. Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
  9. Communicate students’ progress to students, parents or teachers in written progress reports, in person, by phone or by email.
  10. Collaborate with students’ teachers, school administrators or counselors to determine student needs, develop tutoring plans or assess student progress.
  11. Any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
REPORTS TO: Administrator of Special Education and Student Support Services

SALARY: $19.65 per hour, non-contract, no benefit position

EVALUATION: Performance on this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions Westfield School Committee

Job Requirements
<b>QUALIFICATIONS:</b> <ul><li>Bachelor’s degree and/or enrolled in a teaching certification program at a college or university <li>Experience tutoring students <li>Excellent communication skills and the ability to work successfully with staff and students</ul>
