Westfield Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the position of tutor:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide private instruction to individual or small groups of students to improve academic performance or prepare for academic tests.
- Travel to students’ homes, libraries or schools to conduct tutoring sessions.
- Schedule tutoring appointments with students and/or their parents.
- Organize tutoring environment to promote productivity and learning.
- Monitor student performance or assist students in academic environments, such as classrooms, laboratories or computer centers.
- Review class material with students by discussing text, working solutions to problems, or reviewing worksheets or other assignments.
- Assess students’ progress throughout tutoring sessions.
- Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
- Communicate students’ progress to students, parents or teachers in written progress reports, in person, by phone or by email.
- Collaborate with students’ teachers, school administrators or counselors to determine student needs, develop tutoring plans or assess student progress.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
REPORTS TO: Administrator of Special Education and Student Support Services
SALARY: $19.65 per hour, non-contract, no benefit position
EVALUATION: Performance on this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions Westfield School Committee

<b>QUALIFICATIONS:</b>
<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree and/or enrolled in a teaching certification program at a college or university
<li>Experience tutoring students
<li>Excellent communication skills and the ability to work successfully with staff and students</ul>
