Job Description
Applications will be accepted for the position of bilingual tutor/translator in the Westfield Public School District.

Positions: Bilingual Tutor

Program Information: 19 hours per week


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Work in all schools across the district based on newcomer students’ language needs as identified by the English Learner Program Supervisor
  2. Work with students new to American schools
  3. Communicate and interact successfully with all staff and students
  4. Have basic computer skills, including experience using Google Classroom and Google Translate
  5. Model and encourage the use of academic language in English
  6. Serve as a family liaison and communicate relevant information between the school and families
  7. Advocate for family needs and help connect to community resources
  8. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the EL Supervisor, Director of Assessment and Accountability, or Superintendent of Schools
REPORTS TO: English Learner Program Supervisor

SALARY: $21 per hour with no benefits


This position subject to grant funding.

Job Requirements
<b>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:</b> Work is generally conducted within school building. Ability to travel throughout the school building is necessary. Position involves sitting and the ability to travel from one place to another within the classroom. Work is light in nature with regular lifting of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds with some pulling and pushing or reaching above, generally of desk and file drawers. Frequent use of hands to operate keyboards and telephones and other office equipment. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job. <b>QUALIFICATIONS:</b> <ul><li>Fluent in English and native language. <li>Experience in working with ELL students. <li>Effective communication skills.</ul>
