WESTFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS March 15, 2023 NOTIFICATION OF VACANCIES:
Applications will be accepted for one Art Teaching position in the Westfield Public Schools for the Summer EDventure program. The program is scheduled to begin July 10, 2023 and continue for four weeks, Monday –Thursday (no Friday dates) ending on August 3, 2023.
Training Dates:June 14, 2023 staff meeting, 3:30pm-4:30pm July 6, 2023 (all staff) 8:30am-3:00pm with ½ hour unpaid lunch
Teachers’ Hours8:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. Monday – Thursday 2 hours of team collaboration weekly Student Hours:9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday Starting Date:June 14, 2023 Ending Date:August 4, 2023
POSITIONS:
ART TEACHER (for students entering Grades K-5/6) Salary: $36.00 hour with no benefits not to exceed 87 hours total. The Art teacher must be available for the entire 4 week program and professional development for the days listed above.
REPORTS TO: Administrator of Student Interventions and Site Coordinator
RESPONSIBILITIES: Integrate art into the summer learning curriculum Develop art and project based learning activities that include literacy, mathematics, and science. Plan and coordinate field trips. Work collaboratively with grade level teachers for weekly meetings. Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of students. Use assessment data to plan instruction. Assess student progress. Develop and submit lesson plans to the site coordinator. Take attendance using Illuminate. Complete student progress reports. Attend training sessions and staff meetings prior to program start date. Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. Develop lesson plans and prepare instructional materials to provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curricula to the needs of each student. Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction. Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Strive to develop positive relationships with students. Implement the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports model. Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the summer program. Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems. 19. Create a learning environment conducive for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers. 20. Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities. 21. Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records. 22. Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day. 23. Perform any duties that may be assigned by the Administrator of Student Interventions, Site Coordinator, or the Superintendent of Schools.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Massachusetts teacher certification in grade and subject area.
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Classroom experience at appropriate grade level and summer programs are preferred. Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required |
