WESTFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS WESTFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS March 15, 2023 NOTIFICATION OF VACANCIES:
Applications will be accepted for grades K through 5 teaching positions in the Westfield Public Schools for the 2023 Summer EDventure program. This program is scheduled to begin July 10, 2023 and continue for four weeks, Monday – Thursday (no Friday dates) ending on August 3, 2023.
Training Dates:June 14, 2023 staff meeting, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm July 6, 2023 (all staff) 8:30 am – 3:00 pm with ½ hour unpaid lunch
Teachers’ Hours 8:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. Monday – Thursday 2 hours of team collaboration weekly Student Hours:9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday Starting Date:June 14, 2023 Ending Date:August 4, 2023
POSITIONS:Seeking a total of eleven (11) classroom teaching positions.
FUNDING: Rate of Pay: $36.00 per hour with no benefits, not to exceed a total of 87 hours Funding via ESSER Grant
REPORTS TO: Program Site Coordinator and Administrator of Student Interventions
RESPONSIBILITIES: Implementation of the HSLI Nature or Watershed and Fitness curricula Make curriculum comprehensible using SEI methodologies and WIDA standards Develop project based learning activities based on students’ academic and language proficiency levels that include literacy, mathematics, and science Supervise and instruct paraprofessionals in providing instructional support for all students Plan, coordinate, and attend field trips Work collaboratively with grade level teachers for weekly meetings Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of students Use assessment data to plan instruction Complete student progress reports Develop lesson plans and prepare instructional materials to provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curricula to the needs of each student and submit to Program Site Coordinator Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Strive to develop positive relationships with students Implement the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) model Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the summer program Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day Perform any duties that may be assigned by the Director of Assessment & Accountability, Administrator of Student Interventions, and Program Site Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred: Massachusetts elementary teacher certification as required
Massachusetts SEI Teacher Endorsement preferred
Classroom experience at appropriate grade level
Prior related summer program experience preferred
At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
Bachelor degree preferred Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required |
