Chelmsford Public Schools - Announcement of Vacancy for Community Education Summer 2023 Programming The Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the following anticipated vacancy. The district reserves the right to change this vacancy or not fill this vacancy based on further staffing changes, enrollment, or budget. Position: Summer Basketball Program Coordinator Location: Community Education Summer Program The Summer Basketball Program Coordinator will facilitate our Youth and High School Summer Basketball leagues. The 2023 season will run from July 10th to August 10th with game times to be determined based on enrollment numbers. All players will have two, 1-hour games a week. Administrative Tasks: • Train and schedule referees • Create division schedules or activities based on ages. • Create master schedule, put teams together and take into account all requests from over 200 applicants. Review rosters and lists. • Make changes to team rosters each day and notify players and coaches • Answer parent emails (shared duty) • Meet with Chelmsford Community Education Staff • Review established rules and policies • Communicate with coaches and other affiliates • Weather tracking- weather delay and cancellation notifications • Recruit and meet with coaches, find coaches for teams, meet with coaches before season starts. • Data quality assurance and organization • Supplies: work with CommEd staff prior to placing orders • Payroll: provide CommEd staff with payroll spreadsheet (including back up) in a timely manner • Organize postseason, set up schedules, order and pick up awards, host award ceremonies, set up skill stations (grades 1& 2) • Mentor an Assistant Maintenance – during season • Lawn cutting/weed whacking • Weed removal • Equipment set up and replacement • Sweep sand • Paint lines • Trash removal • Equipment breakdown and storage • Clear brush • Safety correction/prevention • Hire staff to clean up courts pre and on a continual basis as needed

Job Requirements |
||||||
|
• Currently a basketball coach strongly preferred
• Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting
• Involved in community centers, YMCA or Boys & Girls Clubs strongly preferred
Perform other related activities as required or directed.
Maintain a positive, professional attitude, and serve as a positive role model for staff.
