Position: Library Assistant

Location: Harrington Elementary School

The Elementary Library Assistant must promote and aspire to providing excellent service to the population of users in an elementary school library setting. These users will include, but not be limited to, students, staff, parents, and the community.

The Library Assistant will manage the information resources in the library, coordinating and generating activities that support both the classroom teacher's goals and objectives as well as the needs of the students in addition to the overarching goals of the department. The Library Assistant will teach grade K-4 students how to use library resources and focus on literacy in all disciplines. The Library Assistant should be very comfortable with technology, and regularly use it with classes to reinforce and enhance learning.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required
Training in elementary education highly desirable.
Training or courses in technology, coding, highly desirable.
Experience in an instructional position working with children.
Experience working with children in a library setting.
Demonstrate the ability to manage and support computerized technology in the library setting, supervision and maintenance of all electronic resources including Internet access, and simple troubleshooting of various technologies.
Demonstrate the ability to learn new technologies as required.
Knowledge and skills in the operation of video and audio equipment.
Demonstrate the ability to incorporate student needs into professional goals.
Possess skills and organizational abilities directed towards the efficient communication of information.
