Seeking qualified applicants for the following at Paper Mill Elementary School.
JOB GOAL: Provide behavior analytic services and support to assigned teachers and or programs, assist Board Certified Behavior Analyst with caseloads.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop materials, resources and instruction related to ABA programming
- Assist BCBA in functional assessments and skill based assessments (ABLS, AFLS, VB-MAPP)
- Provide support and management for the implementation of behavior intervention plans under the direction of the BCBA.
- Assist and provide guidance to teachers and other staff in the implementation of behavior intervention plans.
- Maintain appropriate records and student data.
- Assists and supports Teachers/programs with both classroom management and educational activities under direct supervision of BCBA.
- As indicated by student need, provide monitoring and specialized direct care.
- Provides behavioral (including physical restraints) and psycho-educational assistance to students engaging in severe problem behaviors.
- Supports student’s daily routines, including eating, drinking, toileting (as needed).
- Adheres to the Registered Behavior Technician Ethics Code (2.0)
- Any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Registered Behavior Technician certification; OR evidence of participation in the completion of the RBT certification program within the outlined and required timeframes, as indicated by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and district guidelines. Once attained, must keep current and valid RBT certification at all times.
- Associate’s degree in psychology, education or related field from an accredited university or higher; OR has completed at least two years (or 48 credit hours of study); OR taking and passing a formal assessment which measures the individual’s capacity to assist in academic instruction within a classroom setting (Parapro Assessment and workKeys).
- At least two to three years experience in providing ABA services to children and adolescents in a variety of educational settings, to include but not limited to, self-contained classrooms, inclusion environments, and/or in home / center based ABA programs.
- Must have a strong foundation in the following areas:
- Ability to define challenging behaviors and collect different types of data (continuous and discontinuous methods of
measurement) as assigned by the BCBA. - Directly assisting BCBAs with assigned duties in relation to completing and implementing Functional Behavioral Assessments
(FBA) and skill acquisition plans. - Ability to implement and teach identified specific replacement skills called for in treatment plans as directed by the BCBA.
- Ability to instruct students’ on social skills.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in relation to behavioral events, functional assessment observations and
intervention results. - Ability to work with students who exhibit challenging behaviors and provide support and professional learning for staff who
work with such students. - Ability to establish rapport and work constructively with students.
- Some positions may require diapering, toileting, lifting and/or feeding. Please inquire at interview.

Performance in this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield School Committee policy on evaluation.
