LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE TEACHER TO COVER LEAVE STARTING IN MARCH
JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of authorized administrators shall:
- Teach pupils in an integrated setting utilizing course of study adopted by the Westfield Public Schools and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, school policy and administrative regulations.
- Work cooperatively with colleagues, students and/or parents on a regular basis as a liaison between the home and school whenever necessary.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Identify pupil needs, and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Supervise pupils in out of classroom activities during the assigned work day.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils' progress and interpret the school program.
- Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
- Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Building Principal and/or the Superintendent of Schools.

This is a temporary position with no benefits.
This position subject to funding.
