NOTIFICATION OF VACANCIES: MATH ACCELERATION ACADEMY TEACHERS Applications will be accepted for Math Acceleration Academy Teachers in the Westfield Public Schools for the 2023 Math Acceleration Academy for Grades 3-10. This program is scheduled to begin Tuesday, April 19th and end Friday, April 22nd and is designed to accelerate student learning through engaging, standards- aligned math lessons. All instruction will be provided in person.
PROGRAM DATES:Tuesday, April 18, 2022 through Friday, April 212, 2022
PROGRAM HOURS:Grades 3-8 will run 7:45 am - 2:45 pm Grades 9 and 10 will run 7:45 am - 1:45 pm TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Create math lessons focused on standards determined by the district and focused on student needs. 2.Tailor lessons to the specific needs of students and include engaging, hands-on learning experiences 3.Encourage, support, and motivate students in a class size of approximately 10-12 4.Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Strive to develop positive relationships with students 5.Implement the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) model 6.Students are taught by the same math teacher for the duration of the Academy week 7.Make contact with identified students' families to explain the program, provide logistics, and sign them up for this Acceleration Academy 8.Participate in any Professional Development that is offered prior to the start of the Academy week. 9.Perform any duties that may be assigned by the Director of Assessment & Accountability and Program Site Coordinator POSITIONS AVAILABLE: (Number will be determined on student enrollments) Math/ElementaryTeachers for Grade 3-6 Math Content Teachers for Grades 7-10
REPORTS TO: District Math Acceleration Coordinators
Position is subject to grant funding and student enrollments.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Massachusetts Math Content Certification for Grades 7-10
2.Massachusetts Elementary Teacher Certification for Grades 3-6
3.Classroom experience at appropriate grade level
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally conducted within school building. Ability to travel throughout the school building is necessary. Position involves sitting and the ability to travel from one place to another within the classroom. Work is light in nature with regular lifting of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds with some pulling and pushing or reaching above, generally of desk and file drawers. Frequent use of hands to operate keyboards and telephones and other office equipment. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
