NURSE POSTION FOR MATH ACCELERATION ACADEMY Applications will be accepted for a Nurse position to work the 2023 Math Acceleration Academy for Grades 3-10.
This program is scheduled to begin Tuesday, April 18th and end Friday, April 21st and is designed to accelerate student learning through engaging, standards- aligned math lessons. The programs will be held at Westfield Middle School (Grades 7-10) and Highland Elementary School (Grades 3-6).
PROGRAM DATES:Tuesday, April 18, 2023 through Friday, April 21, 2023
PROGRAM HOURS:Grades 3-8 will run 7:45 am - 2:45 pm Grades 9 and 10 will run 7:45 am - 1:45 pm
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the health and care of students in both Acceleration Academies as necessary, including first aid, dispensing medications, phone calls to parents, and all other routine tasks that ensure the well-being of students.
- Review health records of students in the Acceleration Academies prior to commencement in order to understand the health needs of participants.
- Interprets the health status of a pupil to him/her, parents, and the school personnel without breaching confidentiality.
- Alert on-site administrator of any health concerns (allergies, medications, etc) so the proper steps can be taken.
- Assume responsibility for informing faculty and staff of those students with special health problems, i.e. diabetes, cardiac, seizures etc.
- Perform any duties that may be assigned by the Director of Assessment & Accountability and Program Site Coordinator
REPORTS TO: District Math Acceleration Coordinators
Position is subject to grant funding and student enrollments.

<b>QUALIFICATIONS:</b>
<ol>
<li> Current and valid MA DESE School Nurse license.
<li> Current and valid MA R.N. license.
</ol>
<b>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:</b>
Work is generally conducted within school building. Ability to travel throughout the school building is necessary. Position involves sitting and the ability to travel from one place to another within the classroom. Work is light in nature with regular lifting of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds with some pulling and pushing or reaching above, generally of desk and file drawers. Frequent use of hands to operate keyboards and telephones and other office equipment. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
