Chelmsford Public Schools - Announcement of Vacancy for the 2022- 2023 School Year
The Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the following anticipated vacancy. The District reserves the right to change this vacancy or not fill this vacancy based on further staffing changes, enrollment, or budget.
Position: ABA Paraprofessional
Description: The successful candidate will work with middle school students with Autism Spectrum Disorders to support them in academic, social, and communication tasks in the school setting. Follow and implement curriculum and behavioral support plans. Collect data consistently for students assigned. Interest in working with students with exceptionalities is required and work with an Applied Behavior Analysis approach is preferred. Work as part of an interdisciplinary team of teachers, BCBA, and related service providers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be ABA trained or willing to be trained (Applied Behavior Analysis)
- Associates Degree, some college or passing of the paraprofessional test.
- Knowledge and understanding of ASD disability.
- Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records.
- Knowledge of special education procedures.
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the identified school level: elementary, middle or high school.
- Experience working with age appropriate students in a school setting.
Support students academically, emotionally, behaviorally, socially in the school setting Assist students with toileting as needed Ability to follow directions and implement accommodations and modifications as directed by teachers and related service providers Ability to collect data consistently Ability to consistently follow and implement a behavior support plan. - Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education coordinator, and Director of Student Services.
Qualified applicants may be eligible for an annual "toileting and Diapering Stipend" if applicable. Qualified applicants may be eligible for additional paid training (outside of regular school hours.) Position is eligible for paid sick, personal and bereavement time.

We are seeking team players to work in our specialized programs. Students have a primary ASD diagnosis and may be part of our New England Center for Children (NECC) Partner Classroom. Candidates must be able to attend NECC training as part of this assignment.
Successful candidate will have a positive attitude and must work well as a member of a team.
Ability to build relationships with students and colleagues and provide ongoing support and direction to students.
