The Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the following vacancy.
The district reserves the right to change this vacancy or not fill this vacancy based on further staffing changes, enrollment, or budget. Position: Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher Location: McCarthy Middle School
The successful candidate will assume the role and responsibilities of a Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher for a temporary assignment from December 12, 2022, through February 01, 2023. Dates subject to change.
Provide special education instruction for students in a co-taught setting and provide academic support outside of the classroom setting. Work collaboratively with other teachers and administration to meet student needs.
Job Description:
Design, supervise and implement students’ IEP plans
Develop curriculum modifications and adaptations.
Participate in IEP Team meetings.
Write data-based progress reports, per the report card cycle, that are reflective of student performance and IEP goals
Collect and analyze student data and monitor student progress - Effectively work with a team of professionals to coordinate services
Consult with general education teacher and related service providers
Assist classroom teachers with instructional strategies to facilitate inclusion.
Write quarterly progress reports for IEP goals that are data based on student performance.
Administer various diagnostic achievement assessments (WIAT-III, Woodcock Johnson IV, Key Math, GORT 5, etc.) that identifies student capabilities as part of initial and reevaluation for students. - Write effective evaluation reports summarizing findings and making recommendations for assigned students.

Successful candidates will hold a Bachelor or Master’s degree in special education from an accredited college or university.
- MA DESE Teaching License-- PreK-8 or 5-12 Moderate Special Needs license required but will consider candidates with other DESE certifications to obtain a Waiver.
- Training and experience with specialized reading programs preferred.
- Experience in modifying and adapting curriculum to ensure students can access the curriculum.
- Ability to effectively consult and work collaboratively with various service providers and support staff.
- Solid organizational skills.
- Experience with IEP development.
