Job Description
Westfield Public Schools is seeking a qualified applicant for a Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant:

JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of authorized administrator shall:
  1. Assist in providing therapy to small and large groups of children.
  2. Assist in planning therapy activities and in making/coordinating materials.
  3. Assist in record keeping.
  4. Assist speech pathologist during assessments.
  5. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the building principal and/or superintendent of schools.
REPORTS TO: Special Education Supervisor and Building Principal

The salary and terms of employment will be commensurate with the Westfield Public Schools Unit D collective bargaining agreement.

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield School Committee policy on evaluation.

Job Requirements
<b>REQUIREMENTS</b> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in related field such as education or communication disorders. <li>Board certification as speech-language pathology assistant. <li>Experience working with children. <li>Gentle, non-threatening manner with children. </ul> <b>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:</b> Work is generally conducted within school building. Ability to travel throughout the school building is necessary. Position involves sitting and the ability to travel from one place to another within the office. Work is moderate in nature with regular lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds with some pulling and pushing or reaching above, generally of desk and file drawers. Frequent use of hands to operate keyboards and telephones and other office equipment. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
