Recess/Lunch Aide

The Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the position of Recess Aide/ Safety Monitor. This is a part time position and for the school year only.

This vacancy is at the Chelmsford High School School.

Job Goal: To provide student supervision to maintain a well-organized, smoothly-functioning school environment. Duties include monitoring students for safety during lunch / break periods.

The successful candidate will be able to work in a team environment to provide a safe and caring environment for all students.
Manage students during meal service
Monitor students for safety and social interactions
Communicate with students and staff in a positive professional manner
Supervise students during break time
Circulate throughout the cafeteria or in areas where meals are served
Perform other duties as assigned

Applicants should hold the following qualifications:
  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working with children and/or teens
  • Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the high school level.
  • Experience working with age appropriate students in a school setting.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable.
Reports to: School Principal

Work Days: 181-day work year

Hours per week: 10:30 am - 1:00 pm or as needed (2.5 hours daily)

Pay: $7,162 annually (step 1)

Benefits: Affords sick and personal time per bargaining agreement (not eligible for benefits)

Chelmsford High School is a public high school located in Chelmsford Massachusetts, established in 1927. The school is based on a three-house system. The houses are named after Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and John Whittier, three well-known New England writers. Each house has two to three school counselors, a dean, and an office. All students are assigned a house at the beginning of their freshman year. Chelmsford High School offers opportunities in high-quality academics, community service, performing arts experiences, championship-level athletics, and mentor relationships in a technologically rich environment.
