INTERNAL JOB POSTING FOR MEMBERS OF CURRENT WESTFIELD (MA) PUBLIC SCHOOLS EMPLOYEES

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The LEAS Program Coordinator will plan and implement the program, including recruitment of the teachers and multilingual paraprofessionals. The program’s goal is to host ten (10) enrichment literacy sessions focused on language development in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Eight of the sessions will be with students only, and two (2) will involve the participating students’ families in order to provide parents and caregivers with literacy strategies for supporting their child(ren) in developing language proficiency.

DETAILS:
Start Date of Program: December 13, 2022
End Date of Program: May 26, 2023
Total time commitment not to exceed 12 hours.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
  • Create a guideline curriculum that would be implemented in the duration of the program.
  • Promote the program and recruit staff.
  • Assist with the teacher and paraprofessional interviews.
  • Plan and hold an organizational meeting with the program teachers to develop a calendar of meeting dates for hosting the student and family sessions at each of the participating schools.
  • Select and recommend for purchase curriculum materials.
  • Identify and recruit students and families for participation in the program.
  • In collaboration with the teachers, plan and develop engagement activities for adults with the focus on literacy strategies for supporting their child(ren) in developing language proficiency in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
  • Attend all family sessions in participating schools
  • Strive to develop positive relationships with families.
  • Substitute for the program teachers if needed.
  • Perform any additional duties that may be assigned by the Director of Assessment and Accountability

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Massachusetts ESL certification
  • .Experience as program coordinator
  • Commitment to attending all required sessions
