Job Description
ANTICIPATED OPENING

Chelmsford Public Schools has immediate opening for Title 1 Middle School Writing Coach

Goal: The Writing Coach provides and leads writing instruction and assessment in grades 5-6, through a combination of intervention, coaching and consulting with staff.

Qualifications:

•Masters Degree in Education with concentration in Literacy/English (5-12) preferred
•Current knowledge of research and effective practices in the areas of literacy development, instruction, assessment, and
professional development
•Training in and experience with writing instruction preferred
•Experience coaching and/or collaborating with teachers preferred

Responsibilities:

•Collaborate with 5-12 English Coordinator to ensure continuity of writing programming and services, as well as effective student
transition from the elementary to the middle level
•Support site-based writing professional development by collaborating with gr 5-6 teachers and administrators in the middle
schools to identify specific areas of need and plan PD as appropriate in collaboration with the 5-12 English Coordinator
•Coordinate writing programming (support and instruction) for students and staff
•Collaborate with the content teachers to provide assessment, consultation, curriculum modification, and integration of writing
across the curriculum
•Provide individual, small-group, and whole-class direct writing instruction and support
•Provide and support writing assessments and data analysis
•Serve as a resource for colleagues and families

Terms of employment:

•2 days a week in addition to scheduled professional development and consult days
•October –June
•Up to $30,000 annually based on experience
