Job Description
Grant funded Mathematics Assistant positions to provide intervention services for elementary students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Use assessment data to plan interventions.
2.Collaborate with building administration, mathematics coach and/or mathematics specialist to plan intervention services.
3.Assess student progress.
4.Attend training and professional development.
5.Implement mathematics supplementary programs/services.
6.Complete student assessments.
7.Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
8.If needed, communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress.
9.Identify students’ needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping solve students’ health, attitude, and learning needs.
10. Supervise students’ in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned workday.
11. Perform any duties that may be assigned by the Administrator of Student Interventions and/or Building Principal.

REPORTS TO: Administrator of Student Interventions and Building Principal.

Performance in this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield School Committee policy on evaluation.

This position is contingent upon grant funding.

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Minimum of an Associates Degree 2.Experience working with children 3.Good communication skills to work with students and peers 4.Trained in mathematics interventions K-4 (preferred) Additional Requirements: Work is generally conducted within school building. Ability to travel throughout the school building is necessary. Position involves sitting and the ability to travel from one place to another within the classroom. Work is light in nature with regular lifting up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 25 pound with some pulling and pushing or reaching above, generally of desk and file drawers. Frequent use of hands to operate keyboard and telephones and other office equipment. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
