Job Description
Hours for this position will be decided upon with the CFCE Grant Coordinator. Funding for approximately 930 hours between July and June.



Family and Community Outreach Worker-Westfield Coordinated Family and Community Engagement (CFCE) Grant

Applications will be accepted for Family and Community Outreach Worker for the Westfield CFCE Grant. The CFCE Grant funded position is scheduled to begin as soon as possible
. This position is grant funded, with benefits, and the position and hours are dependent on future grant funding.

PROGRAM INFORMATION:
The Family and Community Outreach Worker coordinates and implements literacy and STEM based activities, programs, and events for families and members of the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan, organize, and facilitate weekly literacy and STEM based parent/child play groups.
  2. Coordinate and perform all aspects of the Book Buddies program including recruitment of families and weekly delivery of books.
  3. Assist the CFCE Grant Coordinator in coordinating and implementing community events.
  4. Provide parenting support and education through a variety of methods including but not limited to; group workshops and trainings, support groups and individual meetings.
  5. Provide families with resources and referrals to local agencies and services which meet their specific needs. Provide support when additional services are required. Become familiar with, and promote, ASQ (Ages and Stages Questionnaire) to families.
  6. Work with agencies/programs such as the local early intervention organization and the public schools to assist children and families in times of transition including but not limited to transitions into preschool or kindergarten.
  7. Provide local Early Education and Care educators referral to social service agencies, parenting information, or information on child growth and development.
  8. Attend professional development trainings as well as local and state meetings related to CFCE and early childhood issues
  9. Provide monthly written reports to the CFCE Grant Coordinator.
  10. Other duties and responsibilities as requested by the grants office.

Job Requirements
Qualifications: <ul><li>Minimum of Associate’s Degree in early childhood education, psychology, or social work. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. <li>Minimum of five years experience working with children birth to 8 years old and families. <li>Demonstrated knowledge of partnering with community agencies. <li>Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. <li>Excellent organizational skills. <li>Current driver’s license and good driving record. <li>Must complete background check including CORI and fingerprinting. <li>Availability to attend required trainings and partnership meetings. <li>Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required. </ul> <b>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:</b> Position involves sitting and the ability to travel from one place to another within the office. Work is moderate in nature with regular lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds with some pulling and pushing or reaching above, generally of desk and file drawers. Frequent use of hands to operate keyboards and telephones and other office equipment. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
