Chelmsford Public Schools - Announcement of Vacancy for the 2022- 2023 School Year

The Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the following anticipated vacancy. The District reserves the right to change this vacancy or not fill this vacancy based on further staffing changes, enrollment, or budget.

Position: Elementary Paraprofessional

Description: Work with elementary school children, both in general education classrooms and the special education classroom to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and/or physically. Position involves working 1:1, with small groups of students or supporting students within the general education inclusion classroom.

QUALIFICATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Associates degree or passing of the para test
Knowledge and understanding of various disabilities
Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records.
Knowledge of special education procedures.
Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the Elementary School level.
Experience working with age appropriate students in a school setting.
Support students academically, emotionally, behaviorally, socially in the school setting
Assist students with toileting as needed
Ability to follow directions and implement accommodations and modifications as directed by teachers and related service providers
Ability to collect data consistently
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education
coordinator, and Director of Student Services.

South Row is currently the smallest elementary school in Chelmsford with a student population of approximately 420 students in grades K-4. We have four sections at each grade level with class size ranging from 20 - 25. Job Requirements
We are seeking a team player to work as a paraprofessional providing academic support for students. Candidate will work with elementary school children, both in general education classrooms and the special education classroom to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and/or physically. Successful candidate will have a positive attitude and must work well as a member of a team. Ability to build relationships with students and colleagues, and provide ongoing support and direction to students.
