The Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the following anticipated vacancy. The District reserves the right to change this vacancy or not fill this vacancy based on further staffing changes, enrollment, or budget.
Position: ABA Paraprofessional
Location South Row Elementary School
Description:The successful candidate will work with elementary school students in our therapeutic program (STRIVE) to support them in academic, social, and communication tasks in the school setting. Follow and implement curriculum and behavioral support plans. Collect data consistently for students assigned. Interest in working with students with exceptionalities is required and work with an Applied Behavior Analysis approach is preferred. Work as part of an interdisciplinary team of teachers, BCBA, and related service providers.
Additional responsibilities
- Support students academically, emotionally, behaviorally, socially in the school setting
- Work as part of a team with teachers, BCBA and related service providers
- Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records.
- Knowledge of special education procedures.
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the elementary school level.
- Experience working with age appropriate students in a school setting.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education coordinator, and Director of Student Services.
- Successful candidate will have a positive attitude and must work well as a member of a team.
- Ability to build relationships with students and colleagues and provide ongoing support and direction to students.
- Support students academically, emotionally, behaviorally, socially in the school setting
- Work as part of a team with teachers, BCBA and related service providers
- Ability to follow directions and implement accommodations and modifications as directed by teachers and related service providers
- Ability to collect data consistently
- Ability to consistently follow and implement a behavior support plan.
- Assist students with toileting if needed
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education Team Chair, and Director of Student Services.
Qualified applicants may be eligible for an annual "toileting " stipend if applicable. Qualified applicants may be eligible for additional paid training (outside of regular school hours.) Position is eligible for paid sick, personal and bereavement time

South Row is currently the smallest elementary school in Chelmsford with a student population of approximately 420 students in grades K-4. We have four sections at each grade level with class size ranging from 20 - 25. South Row prides itself on having a very happy and friendly school culture where all the adults work in collaboration with one another in order to help our students learn and grow. <b>QUALIFICATIONS:</b>
Associates Degree, some college credit or passing of the paraprofessional test.
Knowledge and understanding of students with social emotional needs
A team player to work as a paraprofessional providing academic support for students.
Candidate will work with elementary school children, both in general education classrooms and the special education classroom to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and/or physically.
Successful candidate will have a positive attitude and must work well as a member of a team.
Ability to build relationships with students and colleagues, and provide ongoing support and direction to students.
ABA trained (Applied Behavior Analysis) or be willing to be trained
Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the identified at the elementary school level.
Experience working with students in a school setting preferred.
Associate degree preferred Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required |
