Position:Wrap Around Room Co-Teacher
Location:Community Education
JOB DESCRIPTION: To co-lead the coordination of the Community Education Wrap Around Classroom to ensure proper instruction and activities for students to increase their academic and social emotional skills.
REPORTS TO: Childcare Supervisor and Director of Community Education

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform various instructional, clerical and other related duties, to meet the objectives of the program in collaboration with co-teacher, including the following:

1. Plan/implement daily program for the class to meet the needs of the children in this integrated classroom.
2. Coordinate daily routine of activities, play time, meals and snacks.
3. Attend staff meetings and ongoing training.
4. Provide loving care and attention to each child and promote healthy self-esteem in each child.
5. Supervise staff and students.
6. Prepare for and participate in children’s evaluations and parent conferences annually and as needed.
7. Maintain confidentiality.
8. Maintain a positive, professional attitude and serve as a positive role model for staff.
9. Perform other related activities as required or directed.
10. Accept and adhere to all guidelines set forth.
11. Report necessary problems and/or information to Supervisor or Director.
12. Attend and complete all required trainings.
13. Communicate appropriately with parents.
14. Offer age appropriate, and inclusive curriculum for students of all learning levels.
15. Provide an educational environment that is emergent, challenging, warm, inviting and is based on inquiry and play.
16. Value diversity and approach the subject with a respectful, curious, and positive attitude.
16. Excellent classroom management skills.
17. Use appropriate steps to work with students with behavioral, social and emotional needs.
18. Able to develop and implement plans when necessary to create a successful learning for all students.
19. Turn in curriculum to Childcare Supervisor in a timely manner. Be willing to make changes to curriculum to meet the needs of the students or expectations of Childcare Supervisor.
20. Must be willing to develop and implement plans with co-teacher.
21. Interact with students at their level.
22. Ability to be flexible with schedule and share communal spaces in the building.
23. Use planning time appropriately.
24. Willing to adhere to the EEC guidelines.
25. Comfortable with MS Word, Google Docs, basic computer skills. Willing to be trained in any software used for the program.
26. Be enthusiast, engaging, and strong in their practice.
27. Willing to be trained on and implement all provided curriculum and remain current with teaching standards.
28. Ability to work with technology (iPads, Clear touch screen).
29. Communicate regularly with the Childcare Supervisor and Director of Chelmsford Community Education about any needs or concerns of the program.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1.Start date is 08/25/2022
2.Salary range $34,000-$39,781 (prorated) based on experience and education.
3.Program hours are 7:00 am – 5:00 pm – individual shift will be negotiated.
4.A typical work year is 186 days including 180 school days, the day before school starts, the day after school ends, 1 set up day, 1 clean up day, 2 professional days (August 26th and Nov 8th)
5.Position includes 3 personal days for personal, legal, business, religious, household or family matters which require the absence of the employee during work hours and that cannot otherwise be scheduled. Absence must be approved by the Supervisor in writing 5 school days prior to the requested date, to avoid forfeiture of pay for unauthorized absence. In an emergency situation, permission may be granted orally, with permission confirmed in writing using the standard form.
6.Position includes 13 sick days.
7.Position includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and a 15-minute break to be scheduled by the Supervisor.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in writing by the Childcare Supervisor.

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelors degree 2. Appropriate certification or licensure. 3. Demonstrated ability to work with preschool children. 4. Previous experience working in a school setting. 5. Experience working with students with special needs recommended. 6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable. At least one year of experience preferred Bachelors degree preferred Citizenship, residency or work visa required
