BELLINGHAM PUBLIC SCHOOLS BELLINGHAM, MASSACHUSETTS
DATE: July 25, 2022 TITLE: Special Education Secretary to the Director Long Term Sub (August 1, 2022 until October 21, 2022) SALARY: $19.00/hour – 8 hours per day, 5 days per week
FUNCTION: The Secretary is responsible for assisting in the completion of all clerical work required by the Student Services Director and/or Designee, as well as performing a wide variety of clerical and general office work. DUTIES: 1.Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy, productive and efficient office. 2.Responsible for public relations work, telephone and personal; including parents, teachers, principals, and other administrators. 3.Serves as a receptionist dealing effectively and courteously with people. 4.Responsible for preparing reports as required by the Director. 5.Arranges and maintains a schedule of all office appointments for the Director. 6.Assists with general reorganization at the beginning of each new school year. 7.Assists in maintaining a regular filing system and locked confidential files. 8.Places and receives telephone calls, and records messages. 9.Orders and maintains supplies as needed and maintains the school inventory. 10.Maintains confidentiality of work performed. 11.Establishes a good rapport and cooperates with all personnel. 13. Organizes and maintains office records for ready accessibility. 14. Assembles all pertinent correspondence, data documents, and other material necessary to enable the Director to arrive at administrative decisions with expediency. 15. Responsible for typing letters, transcripts, memorandums and other reports as necessary. 16. Works the following schedule: 8 hours daily, Monday through Friday. 17. Responsible for maintaining and completing attendance and state registers on a computer database. 18. Assumes other related assignments or work that may be assigned by the Director.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Minimum – high school graduate. 2. Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures. 3. Able to demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, as well as Google Applications. 4. Must demonstrate neatness in appearance and work. 5. Must be able to operate a variety of office machines. 6. Good health, willing to submit to a medical examination. 7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Committee may find appropriate and acceptable.
