Job Description

The library media teacher provides direct instruction to students at Raymond C. LaPerche Elementary School and Old County Road Elementary School in Smithfield, RI.

Beyond direct instruction, the library media teacher is a collaborative partner with classroom teachers and administrators to ensure the integration of instructional resources and technology into all curricular areas.

The library media teacher creates a school “learning commons” by developing and administering an integrated school library media program.

QUALIFICATIONS: Rhode Island All Grades Library Media teacher in grades PK - 12 Certification

REPORTS TO: School Principals



Provide formal instruction for students in kindergarten through fifth grade utilizing the Smithfield Public Schools library media curriculum.
Actively collaborate with teachers as they plan instruction to ensure the incorporation of appropriate library, media and technology materials and skills into daily teaching and classroom units.
Evaluate, select, procure and inventory print and digital resources and related equipment.
Develop knowledge of curriculum in all subject areas.
Instruct students and staff in effective use of the media center, information and technology literacy skills, and equipment.
