Employment: Compensation and work year in accordance with the contract between the Association and the District School Committee Evaluation: In accordance with the contract between the Association and the District School Committee
Job goal To support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs, teachers, and special education programs
QUALIFICATIONS: •High school diploma •Paraprofessional certification required or meets highly qualified standard •Experience working with students preferred •Ability to climb up and down stairs and travel hallways throughout the course of the work day •Ability to follow oral and written directions •Ability to work cooperatively and congenially with others •Ability to work and manage time in a fast-paced work environment •Effective oral and written communication skills •Effective organizational skills •Proficient in the use of technology •Ability to lift up to 50 pounds •Such alternatives to these qualifications as the School Committee may find appropriate and acceptable
Responsibilities •Takes direction from supervising teacher(s) and/or Individual Education Program (IEP) contact person. •Respects children’s confidentiality in all interactions with staff, parents and school community. •Uses specialized strategies and techniques as directed by supervising teacher(s). •Develops an understanding of the student’s accommodations, modifications, goals, and objectives as stated on the IEP.
