TITLE:Color Guard Head Advisor
SALARY: As per Basic Teacher’s Salary Schedule
FUNCTION:To assume the responsibility for directing and supervising appropriate activities such as practice sessions, games,
performances, parades, pep rallies, competitions and meetings. Directly responsible to the building principal.
LOCATION:Bellingham High School

DUTIES:
1. Must be experienced with performing on guard equipment including flag, rifle, and saber.
2. Must be able to teach the technical skills for various guard equipment as required by the field show and needs of the ensemble.
3. Must be able to choreograph guard moves for marching field show and parade events.
4. Must be able to teach marching skills to guard consistent with the band’s system of marching and vocabulary.
5. Should be willing to assist band director and majorette coach with marching lessons for entire ensemble.
6. Must be organized to keep track of inventory such as drill charts, uniforms and equipment.
7. Must keep regular practice hours every week in coordination with the band’s rehearsal times.
8. Must be present to supervise and assist guard students at all performances including football games, parades, ceremonies, etc.
9. Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.

EXPERIENCE:
1. Preferably a member of the High School teaching staff.
2. Experience in directing activities for color guard team.
3. Knowledge of color guard routines and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Dedication to the service of youth.
2. Demonstrated ability to relate favorably with students.
