DATE: June 10, 2022 TITLE: District Special Education Committee Team (2022-2023 school year) - 1-2 positions at BECP, Stall Brook, DiPietro, Bellingham Middle School, KMA, and Bellingham High School for Special Education Teachers and/or Team Chairs. SALARY: Per Hour Stipend at the Contracted Rate (for all out of school work and meetings related to the review), subject to grant funding
FUNCTION: 1. Evaluate the current special education assessment tools used to measure ELA and math. 2. Identify areas of needed assessment training for staff to administer and interpret ELA/Math special education assessments. 3. Identify topics/structure for special education PLCs at the building level 4. Provide leadership/facilitation for special education PLCs 6. Evaluate the current ELA/math curriculum being implemented as specially designed instruction. 7. Ensure the district has a well-coordinated curriculum in the area of ELAmath PreK-12 that aligns with the general education ELA/math curriculum and is able to address the needs of students with various learning needs. 8. Purchase, explore, and pilot specially designed curriculum and, through data analysis, identify effective instruction for meeting the needs of special education students in the area of ELA/math. 9. Identify areas of needed training with regard to acquired specially designed instruction/curriculum. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: During the 2022-2023 school year, the Team is responsible for: 1. Evaluating ELA Assessments and curriculum 2. Providing training on new assessments and curriculum at the building level. 3. Gathering data on currently used assessment tools to measure Math 4. Gather data on currently used specially designed instruction/curriculum.
2022-2023 School Year Commitment: 1. 1-2 Monthly meetings (could be a combination of in-person and virtual meetings) 2. Willingness to complete work in between the meeting dates as described above
