Date: June 7, 2022 Title: 1.0 FTE Math Specialist
Reports to Building Principal with input from the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
Job Goal: Improve student achievement and learning by providing leadership to staff in their classroom practices in Elementary/Middle School Mathematics instruction, curriculum, and assessment.
Performance Responsibilities: 1.Supporting upper Elementary/Middle school classroom teachers with an understanding of math content and pedagogical knowledge through collaborative coaching; chapter planning; differentiation instruction; and the analysis of data from a variety of sources to improve instruction 2.Supporting a diverse range of learners from interventions to extensions during mathematics in the classroom and in small groups as part of the RTI process 3.Effectively manage all aspects of the mathematics tutoring program; collaboration in hiring tutors, training tutors, managing instructional groupings of student for interventions, creating intervention schedules) 4.Maintaining a mathematically literate school culture (e.g. parent workshops, math events) 5.Organizing and analyzing a school's mathematics data, facilitating conversations among the faculty 6.Facilitating data meetings 7.Supporting teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels. 8.Collaborating with grade-level teachers to develop the Summer Mathematics assignments 9.Participating in the review and revision of the district’s Math curriculum 10.Serving on the school’s RTI Committee and Instructional Leadership Team 11.Performing additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the building Principal and the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
Qualifications: 1.Licensed Elementary 1-6 and Mathematics 5-8 by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education 2.Minimum 5 years experience teaching, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs 3.Deep knowledge of state common core curriculum and frameworks 4.Content and pedagogical knowledge of elementary and middle school mathematics 5.Experience differentiating mathematics instruction 6.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with teachers 7.Experience providing professional development to Elementary/Middle School teachers 8.Experience communicating with parents/guardians about how children learn mathematics 9.Experience with standards-based assessment and effective use of student data 10.Proven ability in using student-level data to guide instructional decisions 11.Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including creating and nurturing a professional community of adult learners 12.Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback 13.Demonstrated Teacher Leadership 14.Models continual improvement, demonstrates lifelong learning, and applies new learning to help all students achieve 15.Demonstrates evidence of professional growth, including leadership and participation in a wide range of significant professional development activities
