SUMMARY To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible adults.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interest, and abilities of students.
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
Assess the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
Diagnose the learning disablilties of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialist as required.
Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Reliable and Consistent Attendance for 183 contracted work days, 6.5+ hours per day, 5 days per week.

Must hold a current and active RIDE Secondary Social Studies Certification.
Strong experience working with students with behavioral, social and emotional challenges
Reliable and consistent attendance.
The successful candidate must hold a RIDE Certification or be eligible for an emergency certification and the RIDE renewal requirements.
No experience required
Master degree preferred Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required |
