Job Description
Title: Math Teacher

SUMMARY
To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible adults.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interest, and abilities of students.

Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.

Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.

Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.

Assess the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.

Diagnose the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialist as required.

Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.

Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.

Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.

Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Job Requirements
Must hold RIDE certification in Secondary Math LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. TECHNOLOGY SKILLS Ability to run Windows 98 Programs. Proficient in file management, word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
