JOB GOALS: To inspire students by demonstrating belief in their students’ abilities and by providing the support students need to meet challenging academic demands. To align the School Library Program (SLP) with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school / school district.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Fosters a creative, flexible environment so that the school library is an essential part of the learning community 2. Develops and maintains resources appropriate to the curriculum, the learners, and instructional strategies of the school community 3. Provides differentiated learning experiences that enable all students to make progress. 4. evaluates, promotes and uses existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning 5. promotes the ethical use of information: copyright, fair use, and licensing of intellectual property 6. Collects and analyzes data to improve instruction; demonstrates correlations between the School Library Program and student achievement 7. Develops well -structured lessons with challenging, measurable objectives and appropriate student engagement strategies. 8. Designs and administers a variety of informal and formal assessments to measure each student’s growth toward local/state standards. 9. Consults with classroom teachers to ensure two way communication with families about student performance and responds promptly and carefully to communication from families. 10. Collaborates with colleagues to support improved student learning. 11. Clearly communicates and consistently enforces specific standards for student work, effort and behavior. 12. Uses rituals and routines that create and maintain a safe learning environment. 13. Consistently uses practices that are likely to enable students to demonstrate respect for differences. 14. Regularly reflects on his/her practice, individually and with colleagues. 15. Consistently seeks outs and applies ideas for improving practice from supervisors, colleagues, and professional developmental activities to gain expertise. 16. Individually and with colleagues develops strategies develops strategies that contribute to the learning and productive behavior of all students. 17. Performs reasonable professional tasks or duties as may be requested by the Principal. The position requires the ability to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment at efficient speed. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language. Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, policies, instructions, correspondence, and procedures. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees, students, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the major functions of this position. The position requires an individual to work inside a classroom setting where noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

SALARY: Salary to be determined by the School Committee and the collective bargaining unit. Ten-month year – as per contract

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Committee’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

Job Requirements
1.Rhode Island certification as a Library Media Studies, all grades 2.Demonstrates sound knowledge and understanding of the subject area and the pedagogy required to teach it. 3.Proven ability and/or experience to implement the guidance curriculum. 4.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Committee may find appropriate and acceptable. 5. Must have reliable and consistent attendance for 183 contracted work days, 5 days a week, 6.5 hours per day. 6. The successful candidate must hold a RIDE Certification or be eligible for an emergency certification and the RIDE renewal requirements.
