Job Description
Job Goal: To help students develop proficient reading skills that will contribute to their academic growth.

Responsibilities: Reading interventionists work extensively with students to help them improve reading skills.
An interventionist addresses the specific needs of students identified as in need of additional support. Interventionists work with the teacher to coordinate methods of learning that are most appropriate for each child.

The Reading Specialist will:
- Perform all duties required under Title I federal requirements
-Consult frequently with classroom teachers on matters relating to reading instruction using district progress-monitoring tools
-Design intervention plans detailing methods and materials.
- Assist teachers and other administrators and/or supervisors in implementing the school reading program.
- Help teachers diagnose reading strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate techniques and materials.
-Keep the parents informed as to the purposes of the intervention, and report student progress towards goals
-Promote an interest in reading and have a thorough understanding of research based strategies of intervention
-Be familiar with the RtI process and Tiers of intervention and serve as a member of the school’s RtI team.

Job Requirements
Must hold a RIDE Reading Certification Grant funded
  • Master degree preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
