0.6 FTE OUT-OF-DISTRICT TEAM CHAIRPERSON

The Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District is seeking an Out-of-District Team Chairperson. It is the responsibility of the incumbent to coordinate, schedule and chair TEAM meetings and facilitate the special education process for out-of-district students and support parent understanding of the IEP and Placement. This position will also support the facilitation of TEAM meetings, in-district, as needed.

This position is not an administrative position and resides within the teacher contract.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:
The Out-of-District Team Chairperson reports to the Director of Student Services.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
•Licensed in a field specific to education and eligible for licensure in Special Needs or Counseling by the Massachusetts Department of
Elementary & Secondary Education;
•Master’s degree in a related field preferred;
•Minimum five years experience working in a school setting with students with disabilities and their families. Experience at the
secondary level (Middle and/or High School) preferred;
•Thorough knowledge of all aspects of the Interdisciplinary TEAM special education process and mandated special education
procedures, including transition planning for students 14 and older required;
•Proficient in understanding diagnostic procedures, interpretation of various assessment tools and goal/program development
required;
•Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing required;
•Valid driver’s license required.

DUTIES:
•Initiate contact with parents upon student referral, in order to assist with understanding the referral and/or extended evaluation
process. Maintain monitoring plans for students referred for evaluation or placement;
•Coordinate all aspects of TEAM Meetings, chair TEAM meetings, and schedule TEAM evaluations, re-evaluations, and annual review
meetings in accordance with the requirements of 603 CMR 28.00.;
•Consult, interpret, document and coordinate student information for assessments/evaluations, IEP, ESY and supervise the completion
of the necessary reports and mandated documentation;
•Coordinate student data collection as designated by the Director of Student Services;
•Monitor student progress reports, attendance, MCAS and report cards for each student;
•Coordinate and review with HWRHS Guidance Department Out-of-District student transcripts to ensure graduation requirements have
been met;
•Coordinate interagency communication (i.e. DCF, DMH, DMR, MRC);
•Participate in program planning to improve programs for students with special needs;
•Effectively communicate with public and private special education schools for the purposes of referral, monitoring, scheduling, and
coordination of student transition to the receiving school;
•Participate actively and regularly in Student Services Department meetings;
•Work constructively and cooperatively with staff and parents in identifying and solving issues and problems to effectuate and maintain
quality education for our OOD students;
•Commit district resources;
•Other duties as designated by the Director of Student Services.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work involves student, parent, and educational personnel interaction, and is performed primarily in an office or school setting. Out of district travel is required.
