DATE: May 2, 2022 TITLE: Summer Transition/Summer Program School Nurse (2 positions) SALARY: $35 per hour, subject to grant funding. Programs will run from Monday through Thursday, August 8th - August 18th from 9:00am - 12:00pm. Building assignments will be contingent upon student enrollment and needs and may include travel to multiple buildings. Nurse will be consulted in any emergencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Observe students in the summer programs on a regular basis to detect health needs 2. Assumes authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered an injury or emergency illness 3. Administers first aid if needed in accordance with established first aid procedures 4. May include: medication administration, tube feeding administration, ostomy care, tracheostomy care, catheter care, ADL assistance and other elements specific to students in the program 5. Perform specific medical procedures as prescribed and outlined in student healthcare plans
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing 2. Registered Nurse with a valid license in Massachusetts 3. MA DESE School Nurse License 4. Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid from a recognized provider 5. Current member of the Bellingham Public Schools staff preferred
