Date: March 4, 2022 Title: Golf, JV Coach Salary: As per Teachers’ Contract – No transfers from this position allowed without prior written approval from the Superintendent of Schools
Note: This appointment is subject to sufficient participation to appropriately support this coaching position. When designated by Athletic Director, Coach will drive students to/from athletic events where 14 or fewer student-athletes are traveling with team.
Length of Season:As determined by MIAA Regulations
Function: 1.To plan, direct and supervise all phases of the total Golf Program in accordance with the MIAA, Tri-Valley League, Athletic Department and School policies. 2.To oversee the physiological and skill development of student-athletes in the program. 3.To develop each student participant to maximum potential in a program of skill, learning and improvements. 4.Directly responsible to the Athletic Director, in liaison with the High School Principal.
Duties and Responsibilities: 1.Assumes responsibility for organizing, coaching and administering the total Golf Program. 2.Follows the policies and procedures in the Athletic Department Staff Handbook. 3.Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee. 4.Follows sound coaching practices in teaching all skills including aspects of health and safety. 5.Assumes responsibility for equipment inventory. 6.Enforces disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior. 7.Promotes and encourages maximum student participation and behavior. 8.Assists in planning inter-school scrimmages and non-league games. 9.Provides leadership and guidance to the Assistant Coach. 10.Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or assigned area including the locker rooms. 11.Promotes public relations through the news media and within the community. 12.Promotes the student-athlete in the search for college scholarships. 13.Develops a scouting system during the season which will provide maximum information for viable game plans. 14.Develops game plans which are flexible an adaptable to changing game strategies. 15. Coaches (teams) are required to facilitate two study sessions per week for their student athletes. These may be combined with other teams/sports to facilitate coverage. 16.Assumes responsibility for the end of the season report.
Report will include: 1.Summary of Season 2.Records an scores of all levels 3.Award winners, MVP and All Stars 4.Recommendations for improvements of the program
Qualifications: 1.Dedication to the School, to the Student-Athlete and to the Athletic Program. 2.Comprehensive knowledge of the sport and the ability to demonstrate and teach individual skills. 3.Ability to motivate the student-athlete to maximum potential. 4.Professional in appearance and actions. 5.Prior experience as a Golf Head Coach preferred. 6.Certification CPR, First Aid or the equivalent preferred. 7.Employment as a member of the teaching staff preferred.

Coaches must possess a valid driver's license and be able/willing to transport students to/from games in a school provided 14 passenger bus (no special license required), when designated by the Athletic Director. Completion of School Committee designated training and a copy of license verification provided to Town annually are both required.
