Job Description
The York School Department has an anticipated vacancy for a year-round full-time Network Technician. The Network Admin plans, implements, and coordinates the design, installation, and connectivity of computer and network systems to ensure the stable operation of the York School District’s information technology assets; included are developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links. The Network Admin works within a team of technology staff to resolve end-user hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion and perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.

Job Requirements
Other Responsibilities: Directs the maintenance and testing of Local Area Network systems; Wide Area Network systems; Telecommunication and server software, hardware, and network connections Directs the evaluation and selection of network hardware Directs the administration of user network accounts and email systems, including file sharing and group permissions for students and teachers Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation of all inventory and procedures Configures, tests and maintains software and media delivery systems in networked environments (AutoCAD, PhotoShop, etc.) Creates training materials and delivers training to staff Participates in budget development process, technology planning, and policy creation Manages and provides technical leadership and assistance to school technicians, ensuring the timely and efficient maintenance and repair of all computer network and telecommunication systems Provides first-level support as needed; including phone, onsite and remote assistance Plans, designs, and develops security methodologies; oversees system security. Oversees the use of problem tracking systems, maintaining records of user problems and solutions Assists school district in the development of network specifications and installation, providing training, installation, and service to district users Performs a variety of other duties as assigned Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in the field of Computer Science; MIS, or equivalent 4-year technical degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Apple Certified Mac Technician, Google Admin certification Experience managing devices in an enterprise setting using Windows OS, Chrome OS, Mac OS X, and Mac iOS Experience managing network resources in an open BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) environment Experience configuring and maintaining HP ProCurve switches
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
