2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR

Bus Monitor and Program Liaison
Riding Bus Monitor
SOMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL

Job Goal: The Bus Monitor & Program Liaison ensures the safety of students as they are transported from Somerville High School to partner programs via bus, including but not limited to the Early College Program at Cambridge College.

Qualifications:
•Fluency in English and ability to communicate effectively
•Ability to maintain a safe and orderly environment
•Ability to establish good working relationship with students, bus driver, and other staff
•First Aid and CPR Certified (or willing to become certified upon being hired)
•Epi-pen trained (or willing to become trained upon being hired)

Responsibilities:
•Take attendance as students board the bus at SHS. If anyone is missing, make an attempt to locate them (text student, call Community Office, etc.)
•Maintain order and behavior of students on the bus so the driver will not be distracted from safe driving
•Report any unsafe behavior to the Principal and College & Career Director
•Respond to emergencies as necessary and according to SPS policies
•Accompany students to the partner program and ensure they arrive at their intended location.
•Upon completion of the program, take attendance as students board bus to return to SHS.
•Upon returning to SHS, make sure students proceed to their next expected location (either returning to school for class or being dismissed).
•Other duties as required

Position Reports to:
•Yearly Appointment, 2021-2022 School Year
•Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30-2:30pm except as outlined in program calendar due to holidays or college schedule.
•Occasionally there may be other hours requested if the program has special events. These hours would be known in advance.
