TITLE: Chamber Music Coach - 4 Positions at Bellingham High School, Funding through the 2021-2022 ESSER III Grant
SALARY: $800 Stipend for the 2021-2022 School Year, subject to grant funding
OVERVIEW: This program is designed to help engage and re-engage students after interrupted learning from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chamber Music Enrichment Program at BHS will address acceleration of learning post-pandemic, social-emotional learning, limitations in instrumentation due to the pandemic, and will support high school instrumental/choir courses for grades 8 - 12.

DUTIES:
1. Solicit, recruit and organize students into various chamber ensembles based on ability, instrumentation/voicing and viability
2. Educate students about the chamber music program as part of the recruitment process through flyers, announcements or a promo video
3. Select appropriate literature and curriculum materials that develop musicianship, independence, technique and ensemble playing without a conductor
4. Differentiate instruction and coaching to accelerate learning and close achievement gaps post-pandemic learning
5. Teach and coach students in the fundamentals of chamber music ensemble playing - tone quality, balance and blend, intonation, tempo, articulation/diction, expression, style & phrasing
6. Schedule groups for a time slot once a week to rehearse based on calendar and school schedule in coordination with the Fine Arts Department Coordinator
7. Prepare programs for chamber concerts, program notes and communicate technical needs (lighting & sound) to Student AV Crew and Fine Arts Department Coordinator
8. Communicate rehearsal space needs with the Fine Arts Department Coordinator and Principal for building permits and access to classroom spaces
9. Maintain applicable instrument inventory and chamber music library in google spreadsheet
10. Prepare an end of the year narrative summary about the program, student work, areas of success and areas for improvement for the future
11. Ensure district and school safety protocols are maintained when applicable (ex. masks, bell covers, spacing).
12. Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee and follows all applicable district and school rules.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience as a Music educator/performer required
