Science Teacher (Long Term Sub)
Location: KMA - Keough Memorial Academy - Therapeutic High School

**Anticipated Dates November until January 2022**

Salary Range: $263/day or up, dependent on experience

Job Description
1.Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
2.Maintain the program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the
students and employs a variety of instructional techniques and media.
3.Maintain the classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
4.Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and – in harmony with the goals – establish clear
objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
5.Strive to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education, instructional goals, and objectives.
6.Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
7.Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
8.Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when
required or requested.
9.Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with department heads,
evaluates their job performance.
10.Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
11.Attend staff meetings and serves on staff committee as required.
12.Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
1.Appropriate MA DESE Certification Required
2.Some High school teaching experience preferred
3.Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students
4.Experience working in an urban setting preferred
5.Experience working with diverse student populations preferred
6.Ability to read, interpret, and apply student performance data to instructional planning and execution
7.Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent teamwork skills

Primavera Jr./Sr. High School) began in 1989 as an alternative school for students who were not making progress in a traditional general educational setting. We continue that mission to this day. Our goal is to help students become successful and productive members of society by coupling high academic rigor and a focus on each student’s strengths to ensure a truly individualized educational experience. Keough Memorial Academy graduates have met all MCAS, NECAP, and credit requirements for a Massachusetts or Rhode Island High School Diploma in hopes that they may continue on with their post secondary education. Keough Memorial Academy is an alternative high school serving Special Education students from Bellingham and surrounding communities. We adhere to Massachusetts and Rhode Island Curriculum Standards. MCAS, NECAP and R.I. portfolio requirements. KEOUGH PROVIDES An educational setting, which includes Functional Behavioral Assessment and Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS). Based on 37H 3Ž4-IAES (Interim Alternative Educational Setting). Primavera provides evaluative services for districts. Small class sizes with individualized instruction and support. Accommodations and curriculum modifications per the student’s Individualized Education Plan. Physical Education, Health, and Art Electives. Work Study is also available. School Adjustment Counselor and School Guidance Counselor provide individual/group counseling, guidance, and transitional assistance.
