Machine Technology Instructor (CNC)
SOMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL

Job Goal: The Center for Technical Education is seeking a machinist with CNC experience to teach students in the Machine Technology program at Somerville High School. We will provide all necessary support to transition the successful candidate into an exciting and rewarding career as a Machine Technology teacher.

Qualifications:
•Advanced skills in operating and setting up CNC and conversational milling machines/lathes.
•Skilled user of Solid Works and Master CAM.
•Demonstrated experience in Manufacturing, CAD & 3D Modeling, CAM, Integrated Production, Engineering Principals and Design, CNC Operation.
•Must be certified or certifiable by MASS DESE as a Chapter 74 "Advanced Manufacturing Instructor" or possess the necessary criteria to become licensed. [High School Diploma or equivalent; 5 years recent (within the last seven years).

Preferred Qualifications:
•FANUC certification to use an IR2 robot and vision system.
•Familiarity with using other CAD/CAM platforms, such as Fusion 360 and Onshape.
•Familiarity with operating HAAS and TRAK machinery.
•A second language such as Spanish or Portuguese.

Responsibilities:
•Full-time position as Advanced Manufacturing instructor.
•Manage groups of 10-15 students maximum.
•Teach grades 9 to 12 on the safe use of machine tools, power tools, bench work, CAD & CAM, among other skills.
•Write/follow curriculum within the state frameworks for an Advanced Manufacturing Chapter 74 program.
•Keep the shop stocked for consumables, tools, chemicals, and other materials.
•Complete yearly Professional Development hours, Educator Evaluation, and other obligations per Unit A Somerville Educators Contract.
