Temporary Part Time Early Childhood Administration Assistant

General Description:
The Early Childhood Administrative Assistant is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated team player who would like to contribute talent and skills to the Somerville Early Childhood Department to support the implementation of a comprehensive, integrated, mixed-delivery early education system program in Somerville ensuring that all students meet and exceed the kindergarten readiness benchmarks.
The mission of the Somerville Early Education department is to ensure that young children in Somerville have equitable access to a curriculum approach where they are engaged in joyful, robust, challenging, child-centered experiences grounded in play, discovery, and their own interests, and guided by state and national learning standards.

Job Summary:
The Early Childhood Administrative Assistant assists the Director and Assistant Director of Early Childhood Education with the administrative tasks associated with the early childhood department contributing to ensuring that Somerville children meet city’s standards for kindergarten readiness regardless of the setting through curriculum alignment, access to care, and teacher quality.

Responsibilities include:
?Provides data entry and other administrative support to the Director and Assistant Director of Early Education and Care.
?Provides timely project management support, including but not limited to calendar management, travel coordination, and meeting and event planning
?Provides general fiscal management, including documentation of grant activity, budget management, reporting support, and liaising with the finance office.
?Supports organization of professional development gatherings and preparation of related materials.
?Interacts with partner centers and provides technical support as needed.
?Provides clerical organization for the office.
?Manages information on Early Childhood Websites
?Other projects as needed
Qualifications:
?Ability to problem solve and multitask, prioritize, and work independently as well as contribute to a team.
?Excellent organizational skills.
?Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
?Experience managing budgets and/or grants.
? Proficient with MS Office package, including Excel. Comfortable working collaboratively with Google Suite applications. Familiarity with publishing/design applications such as Publisher.
?Flexible, collaborative, and active contributor to a positive and creative work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
? Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
?Proficiency in a second language besides English (especially Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole).
?Experience working in a school district or the education sector.
Terms of Employment:
This is a grant-funded, temporary part-time position (18.5 hours/week) for the 2021-2022 school year. Funded by the Commonwealth Preschool Partnership Initiative Grant and the Somerville Public Schools. Not benefits eligible.
