POSITION: ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR – CHAPTER 74 VOCATIONAL ED. PROGRAM GRADES 9-12 – DOHERTY HIGH SCHOOL

ANTICIPATED START DATE: October 2021

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
This position is accountable for teaching and supervision of students in Engineering Technology state frameworks and curriculum disciplines under the direction of the department head.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Responsible for the development and implementation of departmental curriculum objectives and competencies.

2.Responsible for the integration of the department’s curriculum where appropriate.

3.Responsible for assuring equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, marital status, religion, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, homelessness, or disability.

4.Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Massachusetts teacher’s approval (Chapter 74) in Engineering Technology program or ability to obtain within 1 year.

2.Bachelor’s degree or higher related to Engineering Technology

3.Three years minimum full-time employment experience directly related to Engineering Technology. A master’s degree may be substituted for one year of working experience.

4.Evidence of mastery of the engineering design process

5.Competent in computer applications

6.Demonstrate the use of drafting techniques with Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems (2D & 3D design software).

7.Evidence of mastery of a wide variety of teacher competencies and the understanding of instructional techniques.

8.Evidence of educational leadership

9.Knowledge of OSHA and EPA Regulations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs

2.Ability to speak Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Vietnamese, Albanian, or an African Language.

3.Demonstrated experience with second language acquisition

WORK YEAR: Teachers’ work year and work day

SALARY: Teachers’ salary schedule.
