Job Description
Worcester Public Schools (MA) is seeking Kindergarten Instructional Assistants to assist the classroom teacher by reviewing, correcting and reinforcing lessons and behavior with individual and small groups of students in the kindergarten classroom. Instructional Assistants need to facilitate educational access for all students, including students with disabilities and students who are English language learners, by using sound judgment and conforming with the rules and regulations of the Worcester Public Schools.

Typical daily tasks and activities may include:

1. Read stories aloud; assist with academic activities

2. Set up, operate, and maintain various learning aids, equipment, and technology

3. Assist in the wash-up and lavatory routines

4. Assist with eating/feeding routines and other daily tasks (coats, shoes, backpacks, etc.)

5. Assist classroom teacher with clerical work

6. Assist with behavior management

7. Responsible for participating in non-violent crisis intervention training within the first 3 years of employment.

9. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1.An Associate of Arts degree; or,

2.48 undergraduate college credits; or,

4.Meeting or exceeding the state-determined score on the Para-professional Assessment or the Work Keys




PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1.Non-violent crisis intervention trained

2.Previous experience supporting students in an early childhood environment



WORK DAY/YR: School day/183 days

SALARY: Appropriate step on the Instructional Assistant's Salary Schedule
