DATE: July 12, 2021
TITLE: ELA Special Education Curriculum Review Team (2021-2022 school year) - 1-2 positions at BECP, Stall Brook, DiPietro, Memorial, KMA, and Bellingham High School for Special Education Teachers and/or Team Chairs
SALARY: Per Hour Stipend at the Contracted Rate (for all out of school work and meetings related to the review)

FUNCTION:
  • Evaluate the current special education assessment tools to measure ELA
  • Ensure that the district has assessments that adequately measure all areas of ELA
  • Identify areas of needed assessment training for staff to administer and interpret ELA special education assessments
  • Evaluate the current ELA curriculum being implemented as specially designed instruction
  • Ensure the district has a well-coordinated curriculum in the area of ELA PK-12 that aligns with the general education ELA curriculum and is able to address the needs of students with various learning needs
  • Purchase, explore, and pilot specifically designed curriculum and, through data analysis, identify effective instruction for meeting the needs of special education students in the area of ELA
  • Identify areas of needed training with regard to acquired specially designed instruction/curriculum

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
    During the Special Education ELA Curriculum Review Process, the Team is responsible for:
    1. Gathering data on currently used assessment tools to measure ELA
    2. Review current assessment tools and identify additional tools needed to measure all areas of ELA
    3. Gather data on currently used specially designed instruction/curriculum
    4. Review current specially designed instruction/curriculum to identify gaps in areas of ELA
    5. Explore, pilot and analyze data on specially designed instruction/curriculum to align with the general education ELA curriculum and fill the identified gaps

    2021-2022 School Year Commitment:
    1. 1-2 monthly meetings (could be a combination of in-person and virtual meetings)
    2. Willingness to complete work in between the meeting dates as described above
