2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR

Afterschool Homework Teacher
SOMERVILLE COMMUNITY SCHOOLS AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM

Job Goal: The After School Homework Teacher will assist with homework assigned by a student’s teacher and connect to the classroom curriculum. Additionally, he or she will generate activities that provide academic enrichment and skill building but which are not directly associated with classroom requirements.

Responsibilities:
The homework room teacher’s duties include, but are not limited to the following:
•Monitor homework assignments for progress and completion.
•Assist students in test preparation.
•Assist students in developing organizational skills.
•Model literacy and good study skills.

Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
•Desire to work with school-age students
•Effective oral and written communication skills
•Knowledge of basic math, reading, science, and grammar skills

Terms of Employment:
Hours: Monday-Thursday 2:45pm-4:00pm and/or 4:00pm-5:15pm
Rate: $25.00 per hour

Reports to: Director and Assistant Director of Community Education
