Somerville Public Schools, Early Education Department & Somerville Family Learning Collaborative

Job Goal:
Coordinate and streamline outreach efforts on behalf of all city and school early childhood programs (which are represented in the First Five Somerville Steering Committee).
Ensure that families with young children in Somerville are aware of all of the programming and services available to them through the Somerville Public Schools, Somerville Partnership for Young Children (SPYC), Somerville Family Learning Collaborative, Department of Health and Human Services, and other community based organizations.

Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a requirement for this position
Excellent writing, planning, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Technological facility with databases, Google documents, Excel, Word, etc.
Experience conducting outreach or working in communications
Knowledge of early childhood development and effective school readiness strategies
Preference for candidates with prior experience in translation or interpretation work

Outreach and Engagement with Somerville Families
Regularly meet with each First Five program and the Steering Committee to discuss outreach efforts
Develop a calendar of events, outreach-related activities
Design multilingual outreach materials for First Five programs
Distribute outreach materials to community partners and post information around the community
Engage in formal and informal outreach in high-traffic community spaces that attract families
Coordination with Community Stakeholders
Ensure all programs involved in First Five work have updated information on program offerings, registration deadlines, etc.
Regularly share information with Somerville Public Schools and City of Somerville teams through participating in quarterly meetings.
Meet with representatives from community programs to share information about program offerings and collaborate on events.?Share information at large community meetings - Early Childhood Advisory Council, Children's Cabinet, Somerville Office of Immigrant Affairs meetings, etc.

Social and Digital Media Strategy Development and Implementation
Develop a social/digital media plan around important programing and outreach dates.
Identify other online platforms to promote programs such as Next Door website and others
Work with First Five program coordinators to regularly update program information on the Somerville Hub Connect Site
Manage SPYC Facebook and Instagram pages

Position Reports to:
First Five Somerville Steering Committee with Shared Supervision under SPYC Coordinator and ParentChild+ Director

Terms of Employment:
Monday-Friday 8am-4pm with flexibility to support events as needed on specific evenings and weekends. This is a 12-month/52 week calendar year position.
Split time between offices at 8 Bonair Street, 150 Glen Street, and in the community.

Disclosures: This position is grant-funded from July 2021 through June 2022 and is dependent on grant funding. Continuation of this position is subject to further funding availability.

Salary: $36,000-$42,000 pending experience
