Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Para II-Specialized Para Educator
DAYS PER YEAR: 185 DAYS PER WEEK: 5 HOURS PER DAY: 6.5
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
•This position will require the para educator to work with multiple students within all school settings.
•Support special needs student in the areas of academics, communication, self-help skills, social skills, and behavior management.
•Manage organization, supervision, and daily tasks of students as required by case manager and their individualized education plan.
•Must be caring, respectful, but firm.
•Must have a strong desire to work with children as well as a willingness to learn.
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
•Ensure the safety of ALL students
•Provide direct supportive services for the duration of the school day
•Reinforce generalization and maintenance of skills
•Collect data on targeted skills as requested by Case Manager or BCBA
•Communicate with parent via home communication log
•Communicate any student-specific concerns to Case Manager
•Performs other duties as assigned by the Case Manager or Special Education Coordinator
•Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Para II Certified or eligible for certification
•Certified in Crisis Prevention Intervention or similar program
•Documented experience with implementing Behavior Intervention Plans under the supervision of the Case Manager and BCBA
•Classroom support experience and/or experience working with individuals with disabilities.

REPORTS TO:
•Case Manager, BCBA, and Special Education Coordinator
SALARY RANGE: As per Newport Support Staff Agreement, Benefited position
