ANNOUNCEMENT OF A VACANCY FOR THE
2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR

Temporary SPED Transitional Paraprofessional
SOMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL

Job Goal: The Transition Program at Somerville High School is designed for students ages 18-22 who are continuing to work on transition related goals past their 12th grade year. Students in this program have a range of disabilities including autism and intellectual impairments. Instruction focuses on vocational/job training as well as travel and community skills, self-advocacy, functional life skills, and growth toward independence.

Students spend more than 50% of their school time off campus at job sites, in the community, or dually enrolled at a local college or university. The person in the transition paraprofessional position will spend lots of time in the community supporting students as well as providing support with life skills training within the classroom setting.

Responsibilities: As per the Somerville Teachers Association, Instructional Paraprofessionals Unit Collective Bargaining Agreement

Position Reports to: School Principal and Director of Special Education or designee
