Job Description
This position reports to the Director of Postsecondary & Community Education

The Practical Nurse Program Director leads a post-secondary educational program that prepares qualified entry level practical nurses for today's healthcare market. The program director is responsible for developing and administrating the full-time evening program.
Performance Responsibilities:

External Boards, Accrediting agencies, Nursing Organizations & Community partnerships
•Hold the legal administrative responsibility for the Practical Nurse Program in accordance with rules and regulations dictated by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing rules and regulations (BORN)
•Coordinates and prepares the Accreditation requirements for BORN approval status
•Prepares and submits the Annual Report to BORN for continued program approval; conducts Self-Study in advance of the Board's visit for continuing approval status every 5 years, or as required
•Notifies BORN of any changes in administrative personnel in the program and/or changes in the CEO of the parent institution
•In their absence, recommends the appointment of a BORN qualified PNP Director (interim) to conduct day to day management, operations, and oversight of the PNP.
•Reviews/updates the PNP Systematic Evaluation Plan as required by BORN and accreditation agencies.
•Serves as liaison to the PN Program Advisory Committee and accrediting committees; forwards minutes to faculty, committee members, and Postsecondary Director and/or Superintendent as requested
•Represents NCTI and the Practical Nurse program on the Practical Nurse Educator Council, Massachusetts/Rhode Island League for Nursing (MARILN) and other statewide and national organizations.
•Creates and supervises a nursing curriculum plan which provides a variety of learning experiences consistent with the program's mission or philosophy and objectives or goals, and consistent with BORN requirements. The sciences, arts, humanities, and foundations of the profession, shall be an integral part of the nursing curriculum plan.
•Prepares written agreements with clinical agencies, which define the responsibilities for each institution, and coordinates appropriate planning meetings and other meetings as necessary; conducts clinical site visits; explores new clinical affiliations
•Assists with recruitment/marketing of PNP students through info sessions, website and community events/opportunities.

Staff & Students
•Initiates recruitment, interviews, and recommends potential faculty members to the Postsecondary Director and Superintendent.
•Orients new and adjunct faculty to their role and responsibilities.
•Develops the faculty teaching assignments, calendar, and PNP program class and clinical schedules.
•Evaluates assigned staff.
•Organizes and conducts departmental and in-service meetings.
•Assumes responsibility for the admissions process of qualified PN students into the nursing program; participates in the selection of students by interviewing candidates, managing pre-admissions entrance exam, and serving as the leader of the Admissions Team.
•As Faculty Advisor, counsels students regarding academic/clinical performance and helps them meet their educational/personal goals
•Assists students with completing the NCLEX-PN application, including those who need special accommodations taking the exam, or with completing the good moral character related documentation.
•Leads preparation for the PNP graduation ceremony.
•Facilitates PNP graduate job placement, into employment as Practical Nurses or the equivalent, at the conclusion of the program.
•Reviews all transcripts for accuracy and completes requested documents for graduates of the program.
•Surveys graduates 6-12 months post-graduation to identify employment and further nursing educational experience as well as program satisfaction; assures compliance with accreditation bodies regarding post-graduation employment data.
•Creates, reviews and edits NCTI Practical Nurse Student and Faculty handbooks and program materials
•Maintains appropriate nursing materials for the students and faculty, in collaboration with Library Media Specialist.
•Maintains student, faculty, and graduate records according to the school's written policy and in accordance with 244 CMR 6.00.
•Develops, implements and evaluates (with the faculty and student representative), student policies which are consistent with policies of the school, or with differences that are justified by program goals.

Fiscal, General Administrative & Other
•Assist in the preparation of the annual department budget and adhere to budgetary constraints to maintain the program's financial health
•Plans and implements meetings of the PN Advisory Committee two times per year, replacing and adding community members as needed, and insuring student representation.(ID departmental needs –resources/equipment/supplies to implement the program)
•Participates in the governance of the parent institution by attending leadership and community meetings as requested by the Director of Postsecondary Programs or Superintendent.
•Coordinates a systematic evaluation of all components of the program, including outcome measurements.
•Maintains a current knowledge of appropriate educational trends through literature search, professional meetings and organizations, instructional programs, graduate courses, and visits to schools and clinical settings.
•Explores and participate in articulation agreements from High Schools and to higher education.
•All other duties as assigned by the Director of Postsecondary Education and/or Superintendent.

Starting Salary for this position is $98,940

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: •Hold a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing •Possess a minimum of a Master's Degree in nursing. All degrees must be earned from an accredited college or university. •Have a minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in nursing, or the equivalent, within the past 8 years, including at least 3 years in nursing education. •Maintain expertise appropriate to administrative responsibilities. •Please note: A program administrator, qualified under 244 CMR 6.04(2) (a), shall be appointed to administer the program on a full-time basis. •Master’s degree preferred •Citizenship, residency or work visa required
